FAQ's

Beginners questions

1. Am I safe doing the exercises?

Always consult your doctor before starting any fitness plan.I am fully trained and qualified to ensure that all the exercises are safe. I monitor everyone through out the class to ensure proper technique is followed to avoid any injuries.

2. Do you do absolute beginner classes?

I don't do absolute beginner classes; but as a beginner please contact me and I can talk you through the classes and check your fitness level. Throughout all my classes I do give options for  beginners, there are several levels to every class........come on, get your first one done and then you are not a beginner.

3. Will I fit in?

The advantage of exercising in a group is that you become part of a group of people all sharing the same experience...all the classes have an absolute range of people so you will definitely slot in there....and if not standing out is not a bad thing

4. Are men welcome?

All my classes are a mixture of both men and women, with varying ages and fitness levels. So yes everyone is welcome. Fitness is for all.

Exercise questions

1. Why are my muscles sore after a workout?

This soreness in the days after exertion is called delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS). This is mostly when an exercise is new, or you have not exercised for a while (SKIVERS!!) or if you really challenged yourself with weights.

As you get used to the training your muscles become less sore.

2. What is the best Way to lose fat?.

The amount of fat lost after a workout depends, in part, on the exercise intensity during the workout. Following high intensity exercise, the rate of fat oxidation is higher than it is following low-intensity exercise because clients can perform a greater intensity of work if the work is broken up with periods of rest, interval training  e.g. TABATA training which is a great way to perform high-intensity work and help decrease body fat percentage

3. How do I get a flat tummy?

All the ABS exercises in the world will not expose a six pack without proper diet and fat burning cardio workout . An 8 to 12 week programme with all the above followed should give you noticeable six pack.

4. Do I need to take dietary supplements?

You do not need dietary supplements unless you have a documented vitamin deficiency or  do not eat a balanced diet. Using supplements as an alternative to a sound diet can lead to serious deficits in the consumption of other nutrients . It is always healthier to acquire vitamins and minerals from food than to obtain them from a pill. However, serious vitamin deficiencies do occur in a some of us and if you are worried book an appointment to see your GP.

5. How do I get Rid of these flabby arms?

One of the biggest exercise myths is that you can lose fat in an area of the body by strength training or exercising that specific body part. The truth is that “spot reducing” and “spot toning” do not work, because we cannot dictate from where our bodies will decide to burn fat, nor can we change fat into muscle. Doing triceps press-downs will not decrease the amount of fat on the backs of your arms any more than doing crunches will decrease the amount of fat  on your stomach.

Any exercise that decreases body fat percentage will help you lose fat on your arms, just as it will help lose fat from other areas of the body.

7. Which diet is the best to follow?

Generally speaking ... none.

Diets are mostly temporary, and many popular diet plans are so restrictive that thinking you are going to be able to sustain them probably isn't realistic.

The real solution to healthy dietary intake is to find a balanced, non-restrictive eating plan that you find easy to sustain. This way you will be able to maintain your ideal weight.
